Does Draco Malfoy Have a Sister?

Draco Lucius Malfoy is the only son of Lucius Malfoy and Narcissa Malfoy. For the longest time, all the Wizarding World had accepted Draco as the sole heir to the Malfoy name. But is this really the case?

The Malfoy family is not without its secrets. Could it be that they were able to fool even the most terrifying and powerful wizard alive by hiding the existence of a precious little daughter?

Does Draco Malfoy Have a sister?

Does Draco Malfoy Have a Sister?

So, does the Malfoy family truly have a secret daughter that they were able to keep from the rest of the world?

No, Draco Malfoy does not have a sister. Throughout all the encounters that we have with the Malfoy family in all the Harry Potter books, there is no mention of another child between Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy.

Their only child and sole heir remain to be Draco Malfoy. However, fans continue to speculate about a beautiful platinum blonde girl exists as another successor to this pure-blood wizarding family.

What Happened to Draco’s Sister?

There are many theories as to how the fabled Malfoy daughter came to be separated from the family.

One theory that pops up is Lucius’ possible obsession with producing a male heir. The Malfoys take pride in being well-respected members of the Sacred Twenty-Eight.

Some people suggest that this might have put an enormous amount of pressure on the Malfoy patriarch to produce a male heir so the family line continues. This pushes the possibility that Malfoy could have possibly had a daughter but chose to abandon her because she did not fit his ideas of who his heir should be – a son.

The Blacks, Narcissa’s side of the family, are no strangers to cutting off family members for failing to follow their strict pure-blood supremacist beliefs.

An example of this would be the estrangement of Andromeda from her sisters as well as the rest of her family due to her marriage to muggle-born wizard Ted Tonks.

Given this, the possibility of having a mysterious Malfoy daughter show signs of rebellion against pure-blood supremacy and suffering the same fate as her aunt had is not entirely out of the picture.

Another possible outcome could be that the child was taken away from the Malfoys.

The Malfoys are not without their enemies. They were prominent members of the Death Eaters that were responsible for the destruction and death of so many during the First Wizarding War. They were then labelled traitors when they rejected their involvement as Voldemort’s Inner Circle while claiming to be under the influence of the Imperius Curse.

This opens up the possibility of an attack sprung by one of their many nemeses that led to the separation of the Malfoy daughter either by hiding, kidnapping, or death.

While there are many others, the simplest of theories is Lucius and Narcissa had a daughter who simply lost her life and was never acknowledged again due to either the great pride or immense suffering of the Malfoy family.

Is Luna Draco’s Sister?

Luna Lovegood is a witch of pure-blood status and the only daughter of Xenophilius and Pandora Lovegood.

She was raised by her father Xenophilius after her mother’s accidental death while she was just 9 years old. She is known to have an eccentric personality and was often teased during her years in Hogwarts for her odd beliefs and strange behaviour.

Luna is a popular choice for Draco’s sister, and it makes sense. They both look strikingly alike with their pale white skin and bright blonde hair. It also certainly is possible due to their age gap with Draco being a year higher than Luna in Hogwarts.

Their difference in personalities also makes for an amusing combination and opens up a wide variety of possible adventures and interesting interactions.

There are many theories as to how this could be possible but the fact still remains that Luna is not Draco’s sister.

Luna is the daughter of the Lovegoods while Draco still remains a pure Malfoy. But it is a popular belief that all pure-blood families are related in some way. At best, these two are distant cousins by marriage.

Conclusion

Our world is indeed filled with great imaginative witches and wizards that love to add their own little charms to the stories we know and love.

Whether those little new bits of information involve a character we already know and love or a new addition, these little extras certainly create a new realm of possibilities.

While the absolute truth in J.K. Rowling’s canon Wizarding World is that Draco is an only child and the sole successor of the Malfoy family, the idea of having a secret sister does add a shockingly interesting twist to the whole story.

Regardless, the Harry Potter series still remains one of the greatest stories ever told in the history of both Muggle and Wizard kind.
